Volunteer Florence McKinney’s optimistic spirit and enthusiasm are always evident during her biweekly Wednesday morning visits. However, her creativity is making her famous here. The entire Maplewood extended clan seemed to show up for the Annual Family Picnic on Saturday afternoon, August 13. As the Webster Band filled the air with spirited music, guests followed the wafting aroma to the serving area. The Dining Services Crew kept it moving along, plating up irresistible hamburgers and hotdogs. Conversation, in between bites of watermelon and potato salad, was robust and jovial. An estimated 250 guests sure had a lot of catching up to do!

Gift to White Haven Friends!

Wednesday, July 5’s visit to White Haven Memorial Park continued a tradition of sharing initiated by Martha Miller and White Haven’s Andrea Vittum. In past years, residents presented Andrea and husband Al with Bluebird Houses made at Maplewood. This time, the mission fluttered in a new direction – a custom-made home for butterflies! In addition to the Blue Bird Sanctuary, White Haven now maintains a Butterfly Garden. Residents Lee H., Margaret F., Dorothy M. and Evelyn C. represented Maplewood’s contingent. White Haven celebrant Nancy DeLeo, along with Al and Andrea, later presided over the release of nearly a dozen Monarchs!
