Veterans Day: In Praise of Selflessness
Hmmm, recent news headlines. Yesterday it was another American city being "occupied". Today it's a sizable gathering of college students turning over cars in central Pennsylvania.
At least on the surface, these actions can seem a bit self-centered in nature. It seems we’re overly focused on our own woes these days.
But what I observed today at The Maplewood reminded me of what happens when those among us are able to set aside their own needs and wants, and dedicate their lives to a bigger cause.
Veterans Day is a time to say "thank you" to those who have served in harms way for our country. It's also an opportunity for us all to reflect on how we focus our time, energy, and talents. Or more importantly, to whom we dedicate those gifts.
